Parental leave notice to your employer (Germany)
In Germany, employees must notify the employer in writing before taking parental leave (typically under Section 16 BEEG). This is separate from the parental allowance application at the family benefits office. Under German law, the written parental leave notice is often a one-off letter—a clear template is enough. HR teams may later use workforce software; this file still helps you document the legal step before any system handover.

Under German law, the formal step is usually a written notice of parental leave to the employer (not the same as applying for parental allowance). Adapt the letter sheet to your employer’s format while keeping required BEEG information.
Changes: If dates shift or you shorten or extend leave, BEEG may require further written notice—confirm with HR or official guidance. Document changes in writing, not only verbally.
Data protection: The workbook contains personal data about you, your child, and your employer. Store it securely; limit Google Sheets sharing. Follow your employer’s channel for submission (portal, post, or encrypted email).
