CV, resume, and curriculum vitae, what differs?
In the **United States**, “resume” usually means a short, role-focused summary (often one page). In the **United Kingdom**, “CV” is the standard term for the same kind of document, commonly one or two pages.
What is a CV template and why use a free Excel template?
This **CV template** is for US and UK applications: work history, education, and skills. It follows UK and US conventions, so it leaves out a photo, marital status and date of birth.
One-page resume or two-page CV?

Which countries does the template cover?
The template covers the United Kingdom, Ireland and the United States. The country notes in the file set out the rules for each: United Kingdom: The “Legal basis” sheet refers to UK law (Equality Act 2010, UK GDPR). Date format DD/MM/YYYY. Ireland: the Employment Equality Acts 1998–2015 prohibit discrimination in access to employment on nine grounds (including age, gender, family status and disability); the EU GDPR applies instead of the UK GDPR. United States: federal law prohibits hiring discrimination based on race, colour, religion, sex, national origin, age (40+), disability or genetic information; the EEOC advises employers not to ask for a photo before an offer.
