Frequently asked questions about Ordio Payroll
What is Ordio Payroll and what does the solution do for you?
Ordio Payroll (Core) calculates gross pay from pay rules, shift plans and time tracking. You review the run and export structured data to your tax advisor or payroll bureau for net payroll. Optionally, book Payroll Plus for fully integrated net payroll inside Ordio.
What does "Payroll Plus" mean with Ordio?
Payroll Plus is the paid add-on for net payroll (€15 per payroll run per employee). It calculates taxes, social insurance and deductions, handles eAU, certificates and filings, and delivers finished payslips for employees — without an external bureau. Without Payroll Plus, Ordio delivers gross pay plus export to your tax advisor.
How does digital payroll accounting with Ordio typically work?
You maintain master data and pay rules, then monthly changes such as hours, premiums and absences from shift planning and time tracking. Ordio calculates gross pay; you review and export to your bureau or payroll software. With Payroll Plus you also run net payroll in Ordio and provide digital payslips.
Which data do you have to maintain yourself so that the payroll is correct?
You are responsible for correct master data — employment type, pay rules and bank details. You enter ongoing changes to salaries, hours, premiums and absences. Ordio calculates gross pay on that basis. With Payroll Plus you also maintain tax and social insurance attributes for net payroll in Ordio.
Are working hours and absences automatically included in payroll accounting?
Yes — tracked hours and absence data flow into gross pay calculation. You review the status before the payroll run and correct exceptions. That reduces errors with overtime, absences or vacation days.
What payroll and accounting exports are available?
Ordio supports common payroll formats (CSV/Excel) and DACH accounting tools where relevant. You hand gross pay totals to your firm — the typical Core path without Payroll Plus.
How do employees receive their payslip?
In Core (gross pay only) Ordio does not deliver finished net payslips to employees — net payroll runs via your bureau or tax advisor. With Payroll Plus employees see finished statements digitally in Ordio — paperless and traceable.
Are overtime, premiums and flexible contracts supported?
Ordio maps overtime, night/weekend/holiday premiums and employment types such as flexible contracts or part-time in gross pay calculation when you configure the rules. Source data comes from time tracking, shift plans or manual corrections.
Is payroll data GDPR-compliant and where are the servers located?
Ordio processes personal data under GDPR requirements and hosts in German data centres. Access controls, encryption and role concepts reduce unauthorised access. Use Ordio's contractual documents for processing agreements.
How does Ordio deal with legal changes to wages and social security?
Changes to gross parameters — minimum wage or premium rules — are reflected in payroll logic. With Payroll Plus contribution rates, allowances and net parameters are updated continuously. You review and approve runs; employer responsibility stays with you.
Do you also need a payroll office or a tax consultant?
With Core (gross pay) you still need a tax advisor or payroll bureau for net payroll — Ordio delivers gross pay and structured payroll export. Only with Payroll Plus can you drop the external bureau for net payroll. Many Core customers keep their existing firm.
Does Ordio support you with notifications and proofs to authorities and insurance companies?
Filings, eAU and proofs to authorities and health funds are Payroll Plus features. In Core your bureau or tax advisor handles these steps based on the gross export from Ordio.
How time-consuming is the changeover - and can existing data be imported?
The switch starts with clean master data and clear interfaces to times and absences. Ordio supports imports of common formats so you do not maintain historical values twice. Onboarding and documentation support implementation.
What does Ordio cost - and how do you classify Payroll in the pricing model?
The Ordio platform starts at €89 per location per month — gross pay payroll (Core) is included in the product. The paid add-on is Payroll Plus (net) at €15 per payroll run per employee. See current packages on the pricing page.
How can you get to know Ordio Payroll in practice?
Book a demo to clarify process, roles and interfaces with your team. You see how times, absences and gross pay work together — and whether Payroll Plus makes sense for you. That is the fastest path from the landing page to a well-founded decision.
