Our story
Ordio was born in real shift operations. In 2009 David Keuenhof founded Sushi Ninja — today three locations and 125+ team members. Planning, time tracking and payroll pain led to in-house tools; Ordio launched in 2020.
Sushi Ninja keeps growing. We test every new Ordio feature in our own businesses first.

Our principles
Built for everyday shift work
Most HR tools are built for the office. We build for the shift. Planning and communication for teams on site; time and absences cleanly on the phone. Every feature starts where it is needed: in the business.
Born in practice
Every feature runs first in our own businesses.
Automate, don’t administer
Software handles the routine — not people.
Employees first
Good planning shows up for the people on the floor.
Nano
We build AI for shift work
Nano is our own AI agent. It handles day-to-day work: filling shifts, communicating, getting documents done. From day one through payroll, Nano covers the full lifecycle in a platform that thinks ahead.
Our team

What is Ordio?
Ordio is a software platform for businesses with shift-based planning and rostering: rotas, employee scheduling, absence management and more HR workflows in one place—with a focus on teams that do not work at a classic desk. The product is developed by Ordio GmbH in Germany. For features and packaging, see features and pricing.
What is Ordio’s mission?
We want to build the “deskless super app” for people who work on site, in shifts and in the field—with a clear focus on employee-first technology: good planning and fair processes should reach frontline staff first. The story of how we started and where we are heading is summarized in the upper section of this page.
How did Ordio come about?
The story begins with Sushi Ninja: co-founder David built internal tools there to organize shifts and teams in daily operations. That sparked the idea for Ordio—today a dedicated product and team advancing digital tools for modern shift work. Practical experience from shift operations remains part of our DNA.
Who is Ordio for?
Ordio is aimed at companies that plan shifts or deployments—from small teams to larger organizations. We serve many industries in parallel; a starting point by industry is our industries overview (German site). Where your people work on site, in rotating shifts or on the go, the product should stay practical and mobile-first—not only for office space.
Where is Ordio based?
Ordio is rooted in Cologne, Germany; a substantial part of the team works here. Address, register details and representation of Ordio GmbH are consolidated in our legal notice (Impressum)—the binding source for formal contact details.
How does Ordio differ from classic office HR software?
Many HR tools optimize first for knowledge work at a desk. Ordio focuses on shift reality: planning and communication for on-site teams, reliable time and absence workflows on the phone. That is why we talk about a “deskless people platform”. To go deeper on rostering, see employee scheduling with Ordio.
How can I work at Ordio?
We welcome people who want to shape shift operations and product with us. Open roles, profiles and how to apply are on our careers hub on Join. Use the “Explore open roles” call-to-action on this page or go to the Ordio careers page on Join.
I need login help or support—is this the right page?
This page describes team, mission and company—it does not replace product support. For login, workspace access and product questions, use the help and contact paths inside your Ordio account or your known sales and success contacts. For Impressum and formal contact details, use the legal notice of Ordio GmbH.
